About inflammatory bowel disease

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, are a group of health conditions that affect the gastrointestinal tract. Gastrointestinal healthcare providers diagnose and treat IBD.

Care for patients with IBD is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of IBD physicians (gastroenterologists) who provide medical treatment for IBD and its related issues. Other members of the IBD healthcare team can include nurse practitioners, nurses and dietitians.

IBD can affect people of all ages, sexes, races and ethnicities.
