Expanded Alberta Find a Provider website helps Albertans access primary care

February 20, 2026

ALBERTA — Finding a primary care clinic, family doctor, nurse practitioner or registered midwife is now easier with help from the new Alberta Find a Provider website.

The website – originally named Alberta Find a Doctor – was established in 2019 by the Primary Care Networks as a tool to help Albertans find providers or clinics accepting new patients.

Primary Care Alberta acquired the site in 2025 and has been working to enhance and expand the site’s services. On February 19, 2026, the site was updated to include:

  • New name: Alberta Find a Provider. This new name reflects broader access to primary care providers for Albertans.
  • New URL: albertafindaprovider.ca
  • New provider: in addition to family doctors and nurse practitioners, a directory link to the Alberta Association of Midwives was added to the site to support pregnant people across Alberta
  • New design and improved search enhance navigation and provider matching to help Albertans find the information they need.

“Our first year was about bringing teams together and building the foundation for stronger primary care across Alberta. Now we’re focused on practical improvements that make it easier for people to find care and navigate the system. Alberta Find a Provider is one important step in that work.” Kim Simmonds, chief executive officer, Primary Care Alberta
